In the spring of 1999 my daughter, Summer, and I went rock climbing at a place just a few miles directly north of Las Vegas. The Red Rocks is a tourist attraction, but it is possible to hike back into the deep canyons and find remote routes for climbing.
Here, I am perched on a ledge about halfway up a 700' climb called "Cat in the Hat".
